PSA is a protein produced by prostate cells. A PSA blood test is used primarily to screen for prostate cancer. 

Purpose: PSA levels are monitored in men on testosterone therapy because TRT can sometimes lead to an increase in PSA. Elevated PSA can indicate prostate cancer, but can also be caused by benign conditions like prostate enlargement (BPH).
